As Muslims around the world begin to celebrate Eid al-Adha, in eastern DRC, it is time for health precautions. Masks, disinfectant gel, gatherings outside… As the Ebola virus epidemic spreads across the country, the Muslim community of Bunia, in the province of Ituri, is organizing to mark the event while protecting themselves.

An influential Sunni imam and preacher, Mohamad Ishaq Kindo, was arrested Tuesday in Ouagadougou by police and taken to an unknown destination, two days after criticizing a proposed law.

Despite reassuring words from the South African government, nearly 300 Ghanaians left the country today on a flight chartered from Accra. A viral video which showed a Ghanaian national being mistreated had angered the Ghanaian government which decided to help its nationals leave South Africa, before raising the issue at the next meeting of the African Union in Egypt in mid-June. More than 800 have registered to be repatriated.
