
Extreme swimmer Stève Stievenart became, on Sunday April 19, the first man to complete “the triple crown at the end of the world” by linking Uruguay to Argentina, his entourage announced in a press release.
The Frenchman, nicknamed “the Seal”, took 17:59:33 to swim 43 kilometers across the Rio de la Plata in Argentina.
It thus validates the third stage of the “triple crown at the end of the world”, after its crossings of the Beagle Strait (between Argentina and Chile) and the Strait of Magellan in Chile.

“Double satisfaction”
“I had waves and wind all the time, not a moment of calm,” reacted the 48-year-old swimmer. The Rio de la Plata is worth it! It was a trying day. »
“I’m super happy because I’m the first swimmer to do it, it’s a double satisfaction,” he added.

For many years, Stève Stievenart has traveled the globe in search of extreme challenges, “an inner journey” driven by the desire to “reconnect with nature”, he explained to Agence France-Presse (AFP) in 2024. He is notably a specialist in crossing the English Channel, considered the Everest of open water endurance.
